Townsville Flood Appeal

Feb 9, 2019 | Appeals

Although flooding in the city of Townville in far north Queensland is not unfamiliar, the current flooding disaster has been described as a once-in-100-year crisis, and one of the worst natural disasters to ever impact the region.

This event has caused a loss of life, and major infrastructure damage, while an estimated 500,000 head of cattle have perished in the floodwaters.

Over 3000 homes were inundated with water, with many trapped residents requiring evacuation. Around half of these homes have been determined to be uninhabitable.

Donations received by NACare between 10 February 2019 and 10 March 2019 will be passed on in full to help the victims of the Townsville floods.
