Australia is in the grip of one of the worst bushfire seasons ever experienced in the country. The disaster has led to 25 fatalities, burned through over 10 million hectares of bush land and destroyed more than 2000 homes.
The losses to crops, livestock and native wildlife continue to rise, and emergency evacuations are ongoing. The fires are predicted to burn for weeks to come, and the long term impact is yet to be understood. In the short term, the people in the regions most affected need immediate support.
